My Story
Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, I’m a first-generation college graduate and proud Charlottean. As a student at Elizabeth City State University, I made history challenging voter suppression laws—an experience that sparked my lifelong commitment to equity, public service, and community empowerment.
Now, I’m running for Charlotte City Council District 3 to deliver accountable, people-first leadership focused on public safety, smart growth, and economic mobility for every neighborhood.

Why I am Running
I chose Charlotte as my home because I saw its potential—and I’m running because that potential must be shared. In District 3—from West Boulevard and Steele Creek to Nations Ford and South Tryon—too many residents are being priced out, shut out, or overlooked as the city grows.
I’m running to fight for safer neighborhoods, smart growth policies that will allow seniors to age in place and economic policies that will give everyone the opportunity to thrive.
A Vision for All of Us
With bold leadership, real experience, and a deep commitment to service, I’m ready to lead Charlotte into its next chapter—a chapter where everyone feels safe, heard, and valued. Let’s build a stronger Charlotte, together.
“Charlotte Douglas International Airport generates over $40 billion in economic impact across North and South Carolina—making it one of our region’s greatest economic engines. As City Councilman, I will work to protect and strengthen this vital asset, ensuring it continues to drive jobs, growth, and opportunity for our communities.”
"I’m running for Charlotte City Council to fight for safer neighborhoods, smart growth, and a stronger Charlotte where every resident has a fair shot—no matter their background or zip code."
"I’ll address crime with a balanced approach—supporting CMPD, investing in youth programs, and tackling root causes like poverty and homelessness to make our communities safer.”

A Career Rooted in Service
Over the past decade, I’ve worked to build stronger, more resilient communities—from classrooms to state government to national nonprofits:
-
Former public-school teacher, with over four years in the classroom
-
Former elected official in Elizabeth City, NC
-
Mentor, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
-
Served in the North Carolina General Assembly as a Legislative Assistant
-
Led the Justice40 Accelerator as its inaugural Director, helping black and indigenous led organizations secure federal funding for climate and infrastructure solutions
